Welcome to the beginners guide for Path to Nowhere Crimebrands! In this tutorial, we will go over what is important to have for your Sinners and the specific Crimebrand sets you need for them.
What are Crimebrands?
Crimebrands are like special sets that give bonus stats and make a player’s character better. It’s best to unlock them early because the game gets harder as you progress. When a character has a Crimebrand, they can deal more damage or have better defense, which is an advantage against tough enemies.
These Crimebrands help sinners become more powerful. You can find and use these Crimebrands to boost your sinners’ abilities. When a sinner equips a Crimebrand, they become stronger in battles and help the you in story mode and event progression.
Crimebrand Sets and Unlocking Them
There are several Crimebrand sets available in Path to Nowhere, each with one, two, or three variants. You can have up to 500 Crimebrands in their inventory, including duplicates. It can be complicated so let’s break it down.
Different Crimebrands offer different benefits. Some increase the character’s damage, while others improve healing and reduce enemy damage, and so on. Certain Crimebrands, however, have multiple versions.
For example, “Providence” is a Crimebrand set that increase Attack by 6%. However, there are two variations: “Providence II” and “Providence III.” Not every Crimebrand has all three variants. Some have “I” and “III,” others have “II” and “III,” and some others have all three.
Another example is the “River of the Dead” Crimebrand set, which only has “River of the Dead I” and “River of the Dead II” but no “River of the Dead III.”
The purpose of having 2 or 3 sets of a Crimebrand is to obtain a set buff. If you collect and equip the full version together, you receive an extra attribute bonus, but you must fulfill certain requirements (required set of Crimebrand equipped). The Set Buffs are mentioned in each Crimebrand, so you can check which one is worth equipping. You can go to our Crimebrand list below to see all available ones in Path to Nowhere.
The main requirement to unlock Crimebrands is to reach Level 40 with a character, which marks the beginning of “Phase 2.” Once you’ve unlocked Phase 2 (Level 40+), the Crimebrands option becomes available in the Sinner’s Info. This is where you can get the power spike from Crimebrands.
To advance a character to Phase 2 and beyond, you need two elements: Mania Essence and DisCoins. These currencies are easily obtained by completing tasks and playing matches. As you progress to Level 20, you enter Phase 1. To advance to each Phase, you need certain Materials as a cost. Similarly, when you move from Phase 1 to Phase 2, there will be enhancement costs to be paid. Be sure to earn enough elements and exchange them from the shop when the time comes.
Improving each Phase is required to advance to the next leveling-up stage. You will not be able to unlock Crimebrands unless you upgrade from Phase 1 to Phase 2. The cost of enhancement varies depending on the character. Focus on improving each Phase to advance and unlock new features like Crimebrands.
Upgrading Crimebrands
You can level up your Crimebrands to increase their attributes by a certain percentage. All Crimebrands have a level cap of 10, and the higher the level, the more powerful the Crimebrand becomes when equipped.
To promote a Crimebrand, you must first obtain a “Memory Fragment,” which can be obtained by farming every day. You can enter three times per day (if you pay a bit via hypercubes, 9 times per day). Just do this:
- Go to The DisCity from the main menu.
- Go to The Rust next to The DisCity below.
- Choose the “Stormy Memories” option.
- Participate in the daily event available out of the three options.
Memory Fragments can be used to promote your Crimebrands, but you’ll also need DisCoins and these are easy to get but they can run out fast when upgrading.
When a character reaches Phase 3 of leveling up (Level 70-90), they gain access to a one-of-a-kind Crimebrand. This unique Crimebrand, known as a Exclusive Crimebrand, cannot be gotten from farming. The Exclusive Crimebrand is extremely powerful and provides unique effects such as a 20% increase in attribute effects and a special bonus power for each individual sinner.
For example, Nox’s Exclusive Crimebrand does the following:
When Nox uses “Touch of Despair”, she deals (600%/700%/800% of Attack damage) Physical Damage and 1 Core Damage to all enemies in a 3×3 square. For each enemy hit by this damage, NOX takes 10% less damage during her Ultimate, stacking up to 5 times.
She can now become a core breaker and hit a large wave of enemies. Very strong indeed.
You can also improve your attributes by upgrading your Exclusive Crimebrand. Reaching Phase 3 and obtaining an Exclusive Crimebrand may take some effort, but the rewards are well worth it.
